ARTIST STATEMENT
Since I was a small child creating art has been an essential thread to the fabric of who I am and how I see and experience the world. I enjoy the tactile feel of creating hand-made original works of art, the dream like journey involved in the process - sharing that process, and the feeling of accomplishment of reaching the conclusion of an original vision. The majority of my career has been that of a realist painter specializing in large scale oils on canvas. Recently, I have also expanded my artistic interests to include sculpture as well.
Over the past ten years my focus has been putting the faces on Alaska’s new and unique dinosaur discoveries with the team from UAF Museum of the North. For this I created the educational program “The Alaska Paleo-Project.” A huge aspect of all my projects is developing a hands-on educational outreach by creating a large piece of original art in a large public venue. I enjoy putting a brush in the hands of someone who has never painted before. For the upcoming Cook Inlet Beluga Project 2023 ( https://havensstudio.online/cook-inlet-beluga-project ) I will be incorporating this hugely successful hands-on educational program model to help raise awareness of the local and critically endangered specie of Beluga Whale while in the process of creating a large scale original piece of public art.
I look forward to, sharing with you, this next chapter in my life-long journey of creating new works of art - Cheers!
