“Aleutian Tiger”
Artist: James Havens
Oil on Canvas 3ft X 6ft
circa April 15, 2015
Anchorage, Alaska
This painitng was commissioned by Mr. Sean Carlos / Alaska Island Air. Sean is a third generational Alaskan bush pilot and currently flies out of Southwest Alaska, specifically the village of Togiak. This painting is representitive of his great grandfather who flew combat missions during WW2 and was a memeber of the infamous "Aleutian Tigers." The “Aleutian Tigers” of the 343rd Fighter Group fought in one of the most harsh locales of the Second World War in the Aleutian island chain of Alaska. Not only did the Aleutian Tigers fly the P-40 Warhawk like the Flying Tigers in China, the 343rd FG was led by Lt. Col. Jack Chennault, son of the Flying Tigers’ leader, General Claire Chennault.

Next to the original, their quality and beauty is unmatched by any other medium. A hand embellish Giclee is hand detailed by the artist adding depth and texture to the print similar to what you find on the original painting. Hand embellished Canvas Giclee prints have the authentic look and feel of brushstrokes. In fact, from across the room a hand embellished Giclee can be hard to distinguish from the original printing!
