UNITING PAST - FUTURE AND COMMUNITY
The project brings new life to the historic Forest Service Ranger Station house (1917) and barn (1934), both listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Our vibrant mural depicts the Ranger Station Park in a unique blend of black and white and color, with cacti, a ranger on horseback, and artist Lillian Wilhelm Smith at work.

With James Havens’s next wildlife conservation project, we will be heading to Africa on a journey of discovery through the creation of a hand painted, life-sized oil-on-canvas portrait of 53 year old Craig, one of the most famous of Africa's few remaining big tusked elephants. "Northern Tyrant King” represents new ongoing Nanuqsaurus discoveries in multiple locations of Alaska including Denali National Parkas well as the North slope of Alaska. Introdicing Alaska's Ugrunaaluk kuukpikensis (oo-GREW-na-luck KOOK-pik-en-sis), a type of duck-billed dinosaur depicted in our painting by James Havens that once roamed the North Slope of Alaska in herds, living in darkness for months at a time and probably experiencing snow. The work is now featured in the permanent collection of Museum of the North in Fairbanks, Alaska and is displayed as a center piece of the main atrium. This piece was also the selected winner of the 2015 SVP National Geographic Lanzendorf Award for best 2-D art.

Talkeetn Mountains / Cretaceous Ocenas features recent ancient marine discoveries from Alaska’s Talkeetna mountiains. The mural includes Alaska’s first documented instances of two distinct prehistoric marine reptiles: Elasmosaurus and mosasaurus. Also featured in the mural is Alaska’s first and only armored dinosaur, the ankylosaur - Edmontonia as well as pterosaurs, the giant clam Inoceramus, a six gilled shark and two unique type of ammonites - Diplomoceras cylindraceum ( a sub-specie) and Menuites nelchinensis.)

This hand sculpted original work by artist James Havens represents a new specie of elasmosaurus name “Nakonanectes bradti" recently discovered in Montana. The sculpture was created by blending the cutting edge of 3D scanning of the actual fossil, the digital reconstruction and repair of the fossil and 3D printing of the accurately reconstructed skull. The cutting edge 3D work was done by the world renowned 3D expert team of Jesse Pruitt and Nicholas Clement of the Idaho Virtualization Laboratory. Artist James Havens then applied a forensic hand sculpted clay sculpture, “fleshing out” the digital print.

Alaska’s Very Own Horned Dinosaur, Pachyrhinosaurus perotorum: A new species of Ceratopsian (Horned dinosaur) Pachyrhinosaurus perotorum, has been discovered from the Prince Creek formation of the North Slope in the northernmost region of Alaska. The species is based on two fragments of the bones that formed the frill as well as a partial skull. To date the specie is unique and and found only in Alaska.

“Denali Pterosaur, Cretaceous Alaska” features the pterosaur that left a hand impression discovered in Denali National Park, in July of 2009. The discovery marked the first confirmed documentation of pterosaurs this far north and is a hallmark in regards to Alaskan paleontology.
